2026 Transfer Portal Tracker

For the first time since its inception, the transfer portal for men’s hockey opens the Monday after the national championship game. Denver claimed their eleventh title on Saturday, meaning the transfer fireworks are set to begin Monday April 13th. Unlike seasons past, the portal will only be open for 15 days. Players must be in the portal within that window to commit to a new team, but commits do not need to be committed by the time the portal closes.

As documented by Mike McMahon, Brad Schlossman, and others, Portal Day 1 saw an unprecedented number of entries: over 250 players entering on Monday. It’s important to remember that a large portion of these players are being cut from their current team, often due to the roster limits put in place by a team opting into the 2025 House settlement that enabled revenue sharing with the athletes. At present, that roster cap is 26, with players given the “designated student athlete” tag not counting against that cap.

Much like last season, we will follow the transfer news related to Northeastern, including who enters and where they end up. We wish these players well wherever then end up. As always, when a player commits to NU out of the portal, we will give them a full recruiting write-up.

Portal Entries:

Dylan Compton: The first name to be connected to the portal this year by Schlossman, Compton is reportedly heading to Wisconsin per Mike McMahon of College Hockey Insider. Compton came to NU with a good pedigree after being the top scoring USHL defenseman in 2024-25 and a Second-Team All Star. He put up a 4-6-10 line in 36 games for NU.
New Team: Wisconsin

James Fisher: The final pick in Northeastern’s historic 2022 NHL Draft class, Fisher played two years at Northeastern putting up 5 points (3 goals) in 60 games. Largely playing minutes in the bottom six or as the thirteenth forward, the former Columbus 7th rounder has a good wrist shot.
New Team:

Quentin Sigurdson: The primary backup goalie the last two seasons, Sigurdson saw action in ten games for the Huskies behind Cameron Whitehead and then Lawton Zacher. He put up a .920 save percentage in those limited minutes, and earned a shutout in his first collegiate start against Lowell in 2024. We could foresee Sigurdson get a starting role for a ECAC team or split time.
New Team:

Jack Henry: Henry was a fixture for Northeastern over his two seasons in Boston, playing on both sides of the defensive pair. By the end of his second season he was largely playing in the bottom four. Henry had a 1-5-6 line in 35 games last season, and played 67 games total for the Huskies. A former Yale commit, he’s another we could foresee move to an ECAC team. Brown or RPI would be great landing spots for him in our opinion.
New Team:

Griffin Erdman: Arguably the biggest breakout among returning players, Erdman played in all 36 games and put up a 6-9-15 line mostly from the third line averaging about 12 minutes a game. What the winger lacks in physical size he makes up for in effort and energy. A former Dartmouth commit, I think he will have some suitors for a middle six role as he looks to get more playing time.
