August 1st has proven to be a busy day for Northeastern the last couple years, and 2025 was no exception. About an hour after Brian McFadden posted his verbal commitment to Northeastern, the Huskies also received a commitment from Noah Survilas, a 2008 birth year out of Winthrop, MA. Survilas currently attends Dexter Southfield, a prep school in Brookline, MA.
Survilas is a 5-foot-10, 160 pound right shot right winger. Last season he put up 41 points (18 goals) in 28 games playing in Dexter’s top six and top powerplay unit. His freshman year, he put up 30 points (12 goals) in 31 games, extremely impressive for a freshman in the prep level, so much so that he was named Neutral Zone Scouting’s Prep Rookie of the Year. He is an alum of the Boston Jr Eagles program. He attended USA Hockey Selects Camp for the 15U, 16U, and 17U level, most recently putting up 7 points in 6 games this summer at Selects 17 camp. He was drafted in the third round in the 2024 USHL Futures Draft by the Muskegon Lumberjacks, and the fifth round by the Moncton Wildcats in the 2025 QMJHL Draft.
Survilas is a high-end scoring winger. A late ’08, he is one of the younger players in his age range but he proves time and again to be among the most skilled. He is rated as a 4 star prospect by PuckPreps and a 3.75 star prospect by Neutral Zone. PuckPreps’ scouting reports highlight his high-level processing ability and his vision to create when the puck is on his stick. PuckPreps calls him an above-average skater with a high hockey IQ and good adaptability to turn broken plays into scoring chances by knowing where his teammates are at all times.
Neutral Zone also highlighted his high-speed mental processor, knowing where his teammates are every time he’s on the ice which allows him to always be in place to make plays happen. A “highly skilled…high IQ player with speed and wiggle”, his excellent skating aided by a “powerful stride” and explosive first step carries him around the ice. NZ also highlights his smooth hands: “Noah could receive an egg at top speed, and he could not break it; smooth, soft hands to make opponents miss and give him plenty of time to make plays rather than fumbling with passes on his tape.”
The New England Hockey Journal is another scouting outlet very high on Survilas and his future. Evan Marinofsky has called him one of the best ’08s in New England despite his late birthday. Marinofsky called Survilas a play driving wing with his combination of speed and elite skill who can dictate the pace of the game when the puck is on his stick.
Survilas projects as a top six winger for his Northeastern career, if not immediately then shortly after he gets acclimated to the college game. He is a potential selection in the 2027 NHL Draft if he can continue to grow and develop. His skill is already high-end for his age range, and if his scoring keeps up as he ascends through junior hockey, NHL scouts will take notice. He is slated to return to Dexter for his junior season next year, and then likely will play two years of junior hockey, either in the USHL or the QMJHL, before enrolling to Northeastern in 2028. Between 2025 USHL Champion Muskegon or 2025 QMJHL Champion Moncton, Survilas will have excellent coaching and preparation for the collegiate level wherever he chooses after Dexter.
Congratulations to Noah on his commitment to Northeastern!
As always, go Huskies!
