Forward Liam Armit Commits to Northeastern

While August is usually the month where you see college programs load up on commitments, Northeastern has turned up the heat on the recruiting trail in February, landing four future players in a week including two on February 16. We already profiled defenseman Matas Janulis, who committed in the morning, and in the early evening, news broke that forward Liam Armit also committed to Northeastern. Armit is the first ’09 birth year to commit to the Huskies.

Armit is a 6-foot-1, 170 pound right shot winger from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. He has been playing right wing for Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL, where he made his debut at the age of 16 earlier this season. He was a third round pick by Drakkar in the 2025 QMJHL Entry Draft. This season he has 16 points (7 goals) in 49 games, the fifth-best output in the league by a U17 player. He has played mostly middle-six minutes for Drakkar, as high as the second line. Prior to the QMJHL he played for Stanstead College Prep in Canada, where he scored 29 points (14 goals) in just 16 games at the U17 level, and helped the team to a U17 championship where he was named playoff MVP. He is eligible for the NHL Draft in 2027.

Armit is rated a 4-star recruit by Neutral Zone scouting, and was recently ranked the 13th-best ’09 in the QMJHL. In their most recent observation of his play at the 2025 QMJHL Cup, NZ detailed his “impressive” progression in his final year with Stanstead. “Armit combines good size with a fearless, physical style- he applies consistent pressure along the boards, creates turnovers, and crashes the net aggressively for rebounds. With a heavy and precise shot, strong puck protection, and very good top-end speed, he is a dangerous power forward who thrives in the offensive zone. His solid skating, puck control and physical edge make him hard to handle and a constant threat…a fairly high ceiling.” Other evaluators have lauded his ability to play a supportive role as a young player, and someone who can bring speed, grit, and skill every shift.

Armit is currently projected to arrive in Fall 2029, which would be as a 20 year old at the completion of his junior hockey career. Playing in the QMJHL as a 16 year old suggests a high-end profile that could see him force his way to Northeastern in Fall 2028. He profiles as someone who will thrive in the middle six for Northeastern and potentially work his way up the lineup by the time he gets older if he can continue to show scoring prowess in the QMJHL.

Congratulations to Armit on his commitment to Northeastern!

As always, go Huskies!
